Viola is Out

Not very long ago I had an idea for a hat, and it somehow suprises me (though it shouldn't) that the design is all ready set to be sent out into the knitting world now.

As I revealed the other day, the design is already for sale at Ramilla's lovely new shop, but from now on it can also be purchased via Ravelry (in both English and Danish).

Viola in Quince and Co. Chickadee

Viola is a playfully dotted little hat, which is both fast and fun to knit, and which adds a bit of color to the cold season.

The pattern gives you (me) the perfect oportunity to play with color and yarn choice, and to make as wildly colorful or as harmoniuous a hat as you feel like.

Viola is knit from the bottom op and in the round. It starts with a narrow band of ribbing after which the charted, stranded pattern is knit. The decreases at the top of the hat creates a little swirl that finishes everything of neatly.

Viola was designed in the following 4 sizes

Baby (Small Child, Large Child, Adult)

With these measurements
Head Circumfence: 12 (15, 15, 17) inches
Height: 6 ¾ (7½, 8¾, 8¾) inches

Please Note: Knitted hats have the fit if they are smaller than the circumfence of the head. This is called negative ease and means you utilize the elasticity of both the wool and the knitted "fabric" for optimal fit. 

The gauge
24 stitches and 25 rows per 4 inches in Stitch Pattern.

The yarn

Quince and Co. Chickadee [Ravelry link] (100% wool; 181 yards/166 meters per 50 g) 

1 skein for the main color and 1 skein for the dots

And
Rasmilla Luksusgarn [Ravelry link] (75% wool, 25% silk; 314 yards/287 meters per 50 g) 

1 skein for the main color and 1 skein for the dots
- yarn held double throughout

And

Rasmilla Luksusgarn [Ravelry link] (75% wool, 25% silk; 314 yards/287 meters per 50 g) 

1 skein for the main color
- yarn held double throughout

+ skein of Luksusgarn + 1 skein of thin mohairyarn in a matching color for the dots.

The dots are then knit with 1 thread og mohair yarn held along with one thread of Luksusgarn.
